The reason this tv is thicker than other LED's is thats it's a direct light LED and not edge light. It says so right on the TCL website. This should give it better screen uniformity and less light...

Hopefully that is true. My eyes can't keep up with higher refresh rates...... The Hz rating and response time are not related. They are totally two separate specifications.
