Canon does not have an 85 f/1.4. You can get a Sigma 85 f/1.4 which is an excellent lens for about $900.

I wouldn't want to manually focus this lens wide open portrait or not. Your subject moves back 1 inch and the focus is blown.

What is the difference between the Nikon and Nikon DSLR version? (the Rokinon 85MAF-N vs Rokinon 85M-N). The Rokinon 85MAF-N has an "autofocus chip" and is a bit more expensive, but what does...

Nice price but hard to hit focus with just the viewfinder. Using the focus confirmation chip (Nikon only) or live view is a must with this lens.

The closest price point is the Canon 85mm F/1.8. That is $369 full price at Amazon right now.

I think you're seriously underestimating this lens. Also, what you say may or may not be true, but there is absolutely nothing to lose on this lens at this price point.

No joke. If you are serious about portrait photography, you eventually get the 85/1.2L. This Rokinon/Samsung lens is not worth the time and money because it won't have any resale value when you...

Having owned this lens, I can tell you it's a steal if you know what you're buying it for. It's built like a tank, has ridiculously good bokeh and the magic of f/1.4.

The plain "Nikon" version is the one with Automatic Exposure chip, so it's better than the "Nikon DSLR" version without the chip.

Autofocus chip means when you hit the correct focus, and you press your AF button (or half press your shutter) it will blink to show focus confirmation like it does on auto focus lenses.
