I would take out the pencil eraser and carefully clean the gold contact surface on both sides of the problematic memory stick and give it another try and run a couple of passes with memtest86+ on it...

try removing the ram and see if you get any beep codes, you many need to clear the nvram depending on your board there is probably a jumper somewhere....
