At this price, I would just wait for the 840 to go below $150. Shouldn't be too far away since 840 cost less to manufacture than 830. But that's just me since I'm not really going to hammer the SSD...

The standard 840 uses the new cheaper TLC nand chps, speed wise it's faster in some aspects and slower in others. I don't think you'd be able to tell the difference between them unless you are...

not quite, because TLC chips have higher density each NAND failure naturally has more impact, if you have the same number of NANDs fail you've lost more storage in the TLC scenario.
