Ya, that's why you NEVER read the book first. The books always contain more details and ruin the movie, but the movie will never ruin the book.

It depends on what you want. I always choose to read the books first before I watched the movies, because I'm really interested in the story and would like to understand the story the way the author...

If she loved the movie, she will really LOVE the book. I read the books prior to watching the movie. And I thought the movie did not hold a flame to the books. The books are GREAT!

The actual book isn't modified...they made a new cover for it to ensure people know that it's the one the movie is based off of, and yes it is common.
