Then go for pageplus for 12 plan. You pay only $12 per month for 250 Minutes, 250 Text/Picture* Messages , 10 MB Data. It runs on verizon. You can't use iPhone though.

you could run the redsnow program and it detects the fw for you. You can also jailbreak it while you are at it and then unlock it. Since its out of warranty, this should be a good choice.
