I just came to this thread to see if anyone knew how to change that, it is sooooo annoying I measured it it is literally 1.5 inches. Such a damn waste. Really wish I bought that $10 epson.

Brother labelers go on sale a lot, so those price comparisons are rather meaningless (or laughable, in the case of MSRP). The higher end Brother is regularly in the mid $30s. That said, I agree this...

Yeah, that's pretty much true (the waste part, dunno about the "by design" part). Although I've had Dymo labelers and I can't say they have zero wasted tape.

The Epson doesn't do this? I haven't used my Brother labeler yet but it sounds like the best method is to print a long strip of labels at one time, then trim them yourself. I still have the $10...
