Most people with an 82" TV won't listen to audio through two 3" paper speakers so they probably only need 1 HDMI to go to their receiver.

I have the 82738 and it looks beautiful, even SD picture looks great, no issues here. May you should visit the AVS Forum and other sites that give calibration settings to improve the picture quality.

I think Costco had the 70" Vizio for $1500, not sure it that's still going or how good the picture quality is. I think Walmart has it for $1649. Tons of people watch 1080p on a 120" projector...
