go with a prepaid plan? They don't force you on a data plans in case of prepaid / unsubsidized phones. I know a person who has a Lumia 710 on a $100/year plan, wifi only.

Nokia drive not announcing street names is a known thing. But it depends on which voice you are using. I think, you can freely download a voice which announces street names. I may be wrong though....
