Bought this in March 2011, I think it last 6 months or so before it just went dead. It was great until that. Just my own experience, all products can die prematurely of course.

The dual unit in my truck has been in there ~4 years and still works great. One of my friends has a similar unit in his car for about the same length of time. YMMV, etc.
