Not at all. Here's why: It runs ICS and can be rooted/run google store. Barnes and Noble is also really good with updates and has a lot of extra features to make the device more family friendly...

I believe the Nook HD 8GB can have up to 32GB microSD but the 16GB version can have up to 64GB. Edit: I thought I read the 64GB additional microSD somewhere but B&N site said only 32GB.
