I have a similar POS from Cobra, NEVER EVER will I spend a penny on their product. Terrible, useless, not bright etc..., goes off in the middle of corn field but won't even pick up a cop when parked...

Don't waste your money on this. Find a used Escort 8500 x50 or similiar for $130ish on eBay, CL, etc. Yes, it is a different price range, but these cheap ones are worthless.

Laser has saved my butt, but you gotta be on a straight away and he has to be zapping someone in front of you/ or miss you. In Ohio they they are usually on a bridge/overpass and you can spot them...

LIDAR is "laser" where you're pretty much screwed...You do bring up a point of "know thou enemy", see if you can research the area you frequent to determine what speed enforcement devices are...

The X50 black is pretty good, I don't know about the "40%" better claim as I am sure you did not believe either. It is better than a normal X50 though. This Cobra is worth what everyone said it...
