Should be fine, I think this has HDMI 1.4 which supports that resolution. Editing photos should be fine, but this will NOT drive that res playing any games :P Assuming this has hdmi 1.4...

No. Macbook SSDs are available for purchase. Many ultrabooks use the mSATA standard if they don't have a 2.5" drive. The ASUS is 100% proprietary and cannot be found on secondary markets.
