You can use a tone generator and trace the tone from bulb to bulb until you lose it. The last bulb where you lose the tone is the bad one.

A few years ago they were offering the Craftsman 82314 Mini Digital Multimeter with Auto ranging, and a built-in Voltage Detector for about the same price. I wish I had bought several, a great meter.

I own an Equus 3320 and the readings are all over the place. Not accurate at all. I'm going to give the craftsman a try, plus it comes with the voltage detector which is a bonus.

had to switch to IE , was using chrome , but joining club never took . i noticed a box that had to be checked that did not appear with chrome ( and possibly my settings ) . when box was checked ...

Don't buy Christmas lights that are in series. There is no other way(that I know of) to tell which light is out without removing each light bulb. Buy lights that are in parallel and that will fix...
