Just making sure. Roth IRA has NO required min. distribution (while the owner is alive) but the Roth 401K does. I didn't know that. I'll tell hubby. Thanks.

A split is a great way to go. When you retire, you can take your "first" money out of your traditional IRA at 0%, your next money out at 15% tax rate (or even 25% if you want a lot of money out...)....
