i bought mine over a year ago and so far have watched only a couple of 3D movies/shows... it's mostly a gimmick when friends without 3D tv come...

have the 46" version of this .. love it. 3D, just the defaults work great when playing 3D blu rays. Haven't tried the 2D to 3D conversion yet, but the TV looks great in 2D mode too.

I have the 4700 and it does downloaded sbs just fine, as well as top and bottom. The difference between this and the 4600 is supposedly the 4700 comes with the soundbar.

Not aware about 2012 model 3D TV's with true matte screens. Last year's LG 5600 and 6500 were close to that but this year even LG went glossy route.
