This uses the newest micro 4/3 sensor from the omd-5 which is very good, but it is not quite as large as the aps-c sensor in the NEX cameras so it does not have quite as deep depth of field or as low...

trust me, you are gonna want a view finder shooting outside, i've been owned a few times shooting outside with just an LCD and manual focus lens, the focus just got blown pretty hard.

Don't know! In my opinion, this is a great price for recently released camera that is already getting very good reviews. Consider that for the price you are getting a pretty complete lens package...

it's just the control and features. the upper end model (say NEX 7) has more dials, better customization, better body material, and more features over all... that's all, sensor wise, the higher end...

It's still much smaller and lighter than a dslr and you don't always have to use the evf. Pop a prime lens on it and it fits in your coat pocket.

My Nex 5 is actually "about" the same size as my A330, and the new A37 (on my way to me) is actually quite small (might be even smaller than my A330). and this PL5 isn't any smaller than my NEX5. but...
