They only had Win7 machines, but offered a free Win8 upgrade. The win8 machines would have the same specs and I wouldnt expect a price difference

That one is not SSD, so not exactly a fair comparison either. As for the drive, looks like mine is a SanDisk. It's showing up in Device Manager as SanDisk SSD U100 252GB. Should I be concerned?...

Most, if not all B&M MS store no longer have any windows 7 machine, so this HIGH YMMV. I wouldn't make a trip specifically to look for this unless its on your way or have nothing better to do.

You might want to mention the 13.3" 1080p IPS screen. I'd consider that (and the large SSD) the biggest selling point.
