I agree with you on the Max 500MA, it should have read 4X670MA./.MAX 2000... as the devices are charged and stops drawing power.....

if you read this thread, you'll see that it has a 0.5A limit per port. so it's independent for 4 devices, and it will work with phones, as i said. not sure what is confusing here.

I don't think this is true with Lithiums. Maybe lead acid. Are you thinking of the trickle charge effect? If so, I think that is more a function of the phone than the charger.
