Yeah, that sounds high. What size is the frame, do you have it in the smallest possible bike box? ie a box for a 22" frame is bigger than one for a 16" frame.

Did you look at fedex ground? That was the cheapest when I shipped my bike many moons ago. And many fedex places are only designed for express shipments.

It used to be cheap to put it in a bike box and take it on an airplane with you, but that was before all the baggage fees stuff started. Obligatory Shipping Wars TV show reference.

Whoa! I used to ship extremely heavy/large items (think 50 - 75 lbs) via Greyhound for about $30 - $35. Is that an option for you? You have to have someone on the other end that you trust picking it...
