you can always just make your video card scale instead of using the monitor.
and 2560x1440 isn't that much less than 2560x1600 (if you have hardware to push the 27", your computer should be good...

I'm probably buying a 27" version of the crossover off ebay for $360. To me the big downside to buying these moitors is they have awesome panels but very shitty hardware driving them. These things...
