i think costco taxes the original price so $125+($140*7% for me)= $134.79 for a 2tb portable drive. not really a deal imo. especially when 1.5tb portable drives can be had for $90 shipped from...

You're comparing 2 different beasts. These are 2.5" HDD's which are bus powered, while the bigger 3.0TB/4.0TB drives are 3.5" in larger enclosures that require a power brick and can't be powered...

I got one of these yesterday and I must say it worked right about of the box. Was moving some large files around and it was pushing 70-80mbps. So I am very pleased with it. I know it is not the...

I was actually looking for a portable one as the desktop kind is too large to carry around. I just didn't know that the price point for portables was that much higher. Thanks for the info.

Does this mean that if the drive fails, there is less chance to recover data? Are they more prone to failure?

Not bad price. BB BF price = $130. And I got it for a $105 w/Coupon at OD about a month ago. Great drive, unparalleled storage for portability.

It's definitely higher. I think the biggest 2.5" HDD is 1TB (I might be wrong, it might be 1.5TB) and then the height comes into play. 7mm, 9mm, 12.5mm. Basically, if you need portability, a 2.5"...

Picked one up the other day. I didn't think it was a hot deal as there have been other $99 3tb HDDs, but I missed out on the $109 2tb. As for the drive, it's smaller than expected (~1/4 size of a...

No, they're bigger than normal 2.5" laptop drives so it won't fit in the HDD caddy. Not only that, these don't come with circuit boards with SATA connections, the circuit boards have a built-in USB...

If this or any drive fails, you probably will not spend $500 - $2000 recover your data. If you have data that you do not want to lose, you need two backups. This is a rookie mistake, everyone saves...
