Funny... I walked in and they had my cables ready for me. The clerk said "You got these for $15? We charge a heck of a lot more... we find these to be good cables".

So 6 vs 4 gauge. "A standard set of jumper cables has a gauge rating of six. The smaller the gauge rating, the thicker the cables are. The thicker the cables are, the more effective they'll be....

As a comparison, Sam's Club has 20' 4 guage jumper cables in a case for $18.73. These are not in the store all year, based on what I've seen, but they are available now. Probably a pretty good deal...

I guess full copper cables would be just too expensive right now based on the price of copper. Glad you got Sam's to correct that...no one likes to be mislead.

The point of quality high amperage jumper cables is that you can start the crippled vehicle instantly and don't have to sit around charging a battery. I use 2 gauge all copper jumper cables and...

Al has only about 60% of the conductivity of Cu at the same wire size. Also, CU has better fatigue resistance than Al and tensile strength. Of course, Cu costs nearly 3 times as much per pound.
