They are NOT interchangeable, they require different tips/heads.
Mapp is no longer available, but the replacement is Propylene - what this torch uses. It costs more than propane, but burns...

Yes, but not as effective as an acetylene torch, and you can't burn out a bolt with these.
If they are Propylene, yes, if propane, no.

In theory, MAPP has been discontinued and replaced by propylene. This torch claims to come with propylene - is the cannister that came from the torch labeled in the same way?

Lets see, on the front of the can, it says "Max Power Propylene," but on the back of the can it says "Use only with torches designed for MAPP gas." So yeah, I'd guess the yellow cans are correct.

YES they are interchangeable but you are correct that Propane is NOT compatible with this torch. Mapp IS still available, maybe not in your area but it is in mine.

You should be able to buy the canisters anywhere - I do suggest using Mapp/Map-pro gas and not the propane.
