For anyone who already has an E7 (like me), there's a nice little comparison summary written up here: http://www.head-fi.org/t/598723/fiio-e7-vs-fiio-e17/15#post_8323042

I know it's impossible to compare side-by-side, but do you think the Xonar made a noticeable difference over you onboard sound? Apparently the Realtek ALC889 codec on my mobo is one of the best...

Just to clarify about the headphone amp... I don't think any headphone actually require a separate headphone amp to function since all devices with a headphone jack have some sort of amp built in. ...

Just wondering if anyone would know or have comments about whether an amp device like this would be worthwhile to use on gaming headphones? Keep in mind many gaming headphones already come with...

A bit of confusion on my part, so clarification would be helpful. I am interested mainly in the DAC. The specs indicate that there is a pre-line out, which would be great as I have a headroom...

any idea if this is necessary if I use the Sound Blaster Z sound card? This sound card can drive headphones up to 600 ohms. And I use Audio Technica m50s and Senn HD598. Both seem to run loud and...

For gaming, get an external sound card which support 5.1 or 7.1 would be a better choice. for instance in most FPS game, it detact which way the enemy coming from~

Remind me in a couple of weeks to and I'd be glad to comment. I mainly bought the E17 for my Ultrasones but I have heard that the 598s will also benefit from an amp, although it's hardly required...

Huge difference over my onboard with the HD598's. I agree. I was just replying to someone who was thinking about either this or a $40 sound card.

As others have already said - it kind of depends. What IEMs do you have? Cause the next lowest price is $129 and it's $140 everywhere else. It's also really new. So that's why

do you need this for IEMs or its for those big over the ear headphones only?

IEM's will also benefit from a DAC/AMP

Been looking for the E17 to go on sale and was watching major retailers prices on it - then looked at FiiO's authorized dealers list and found Sonic Electronix - hadn't even heard of them before...

I was under the impression that the E17 only fit in the E9k also I think this deal is dead, shows up as 139 now for me

They probably would benefit a little but considering the Amp costs more than the Headset itself it's not worth it.

Tried it with HD800 , Tesla T1 , not good but sounds decent with less sensitive headphones. Cant comment if I hear an improvement over Macbook pro's internal DAC with less hungry headphones.

OK, a couple of questions from a total newb at all of this stuff: 1. If a lot of my music is loss-y (ie amazon mp3), is this just going to be a waste? I am in the process of updating my cds from...

Well, the short answer is: the E17 will improve your listening experience, even with lossy music, but improving your source material will probably make a more significant improvement, since, from...

Who freaking cares? All you folks form California do is whine about taxes. Which is just the height of irony.
Week of CyberMonday. Mine shipped on Thursday so I think it was either Monday or Tuesday. I think I got the RE262s for $99 on the same day from headdirect. At $200 for the setup, it was a...

I got one of these recently. It works great - I've been using it with a Pioneer HDJ-2000 and Monster Miles Davis Tributes (triple-driver high end IEM) - both benefit noticeably from use with the amp....

Traditionally, IEMs are much easier to drive than over-the-ear and on-the-ear headphones. That being said, any headphone would benefit from an external amp/dac

I use both the Fiio E17 and the Schiit M&M stack with my Hifiman HE-400, and both do a great job driving them (then again, the headphones aren't hard to drive.) Both the Fiio and the Schiit are...
