My question is, like the rest of Sprint's pre-paid services, Ting won't have roaming ability, correct? They say "where ever you have CDMA you'll be good" in the FAQ, but does that mean only Sprint...

Ting is non-contract MVNO, so there is no ETF, but they might have some conditions on this, but I doubt it, because what would be the point?
I think they're counting on marketing "buzz" from this...

Right, still decent. So switching from verizon to att for example, you sit on ting for a few months and leave...not that i would or am planning, just looking at the possibility for others.

if you want to get kicked out, do roaming. install a verizon PRL if available for your phone (look it up) or manually select roaming, but this is slower...it may take a few phones to get kicked out...

They've only put aside $100k for this, which I imagine may run out almost immediately. I'd also imagine that they won't tell you this until you've signed up for it, get your etf, and they say...

Voice roaming is part of the service. Data Roaming isn't available at all. If you aren't near a Sprint tower, you won't have data. Not a big deal for me. I hardly use mobile data anyway.
