That isn't true. You CAN use GAP giftcards at any of their branch stores (banana republic, old navy). It says so on their website http://www.gap.com/products/gap-gift-cards.jsp

Lots of stores will not let you buy gift cards and pay with gift cards. Not sure with Marshall's and tj max though, I know Walmart, kohls won't allow it.

In short If someone copied your svc card number they couldn't use it. Associates aren't allowed to hand key the numbers into the computer so you don't have to worry too much.

You have to have at least one Marshalls or Tiffany's GC in your cart. The discount is applied to your whole order, even if you add other kinds of cards.

You can also go to the store and buy an item that uses up the entire value of the gift card. Then return it 2 minutes later. They will issue the refund on a new gift card with a new number.
