Get the V1220, you won't be disappointed. I have it and the F12's brother, the RTR-EV1200. If I had to choose just one of the two, I would choose the V1220. IMO, down firing wins over front firing....

I was thinking about the 1220 over the F12 myself. My wife looked at the pics, and vetoed the 1220. Her rationale? Our little kids would be WAY to attracted to the side port and squirreling away...

You should be fine, they're both ported and generally you want to keep all subs in the same setup the same type. Personally I would get two of the bic f-12 for the fact that it's shielded.

Not sure what's ugly about it. It has a fake grain like most other speaker cabinets. It's not jet black, but very dark. It's just a square box, like most other subwoofers. lol:confused:
