For this much money, people are better off just building their own system which would be cheaper, fasterr, and more capable.

I actually just converted from an Areca 1231 RAID card and 8 x 1TB drives over to a Synology Diskstation. Cost was about the same, but the Synology is MUCH easier to handle. Less power, runs DLNA...
