I haven't had any issues with 2TB drives. I think anything over that is trouble. Usually when there are more than 4 platters things can go downhill fast.

If the files are encrypted it's fine. No one is interested enough in your data to deal with decrypting a TrueCrypt volume or other encryption modalities.... BTW, officially, all the HDD...
