I must be rare then because I've had almost a dozen Onkyo receivers (mostly refurbished) & never a single problem.

Yes, it has HDMI pass through. At this price, also consider the Yamaha v373, v471 (better - $199 Newegg), Denon 1612 (accessories4less refurb'd), Pioneer vsx-1022. As far as sound quality goes,...

I keep asking myself that same question. I'm a component purist, and want to keep devices as simple as they can be and use them as intended. A receiver, IMO, was never intended to be an all-in-one...

I have 7.1 here. ;) I would go to 7.2, but do not want to fork out for two new subs (since they would have to match!) and really do not gain much in my setup to warrant the need for a second...

Read recent reviews on Amazon, Newegg, and AVS forum - still dealing with it. It's a crapshoot, of course - so you may end up with one that works perfectly. It's got more features than the Yamaha,...

Does this have HDMI pass through? What are better options at this price point? Or slightly higher?

?? Amazon had the TX-NR509 for sale for $156 a few weeks ago. This is the same receiver without Audyssey for $23 more? It's an OK deal, but nothing fantastic.

Thanks for the reply. Rep'd. I tend to agree with most of what you said. My home theater is 'only' 5.2ch but I have never once heard a complaint out of anyone who's experienced it. To me, the .2...

How did you get it for $150 when the HK 1700 deal ended on Saturday (but probably much sooner as stock ran out.) and $50 MC deal was Monday?? Im not thread crapping. I Have an HK that I have until...

They do not have to be the same, I just would not be happy having mismatched components. You would want them to at least be similar in capability, though. It is easy to setup, you add the second...

The HK 1700 looked nice (aesthetically) and I almost ordered it on 12/31 until I noticed it was severly lacking inputs (HDMI is ok but for devices that only have component out such as the Wii or...

Is the Onkyo TX-NR509 5.1 Channel Network A/V Receiver better or worst than this one? Anyone knows?

I got the HK1700 and love it so far. I used to have an Onkyo but became a sorry victim of the HDMI blowout.

Can anyone rep to the quality of this versus similarly priced receivers? Also, does this have HDMI pass through?

Let me say that Onkyo customer support rocks. I bought a AVR from them about a month ago and had trouble setting up the ARC from my TV. He helped me as far as he could, then gave me my TV...

I'm no troll - I own an Onkyo 605 and it's been great. But you can't ignore the HDMI problems Onkyo has had - they're well publicized. Glad you got one that works.
I wish I went with Yamaha! My Onkyo has been nothing but trouble, waiting to hear back on what they are going to do since it's been sent out twice and still doesn't work.

I thought that Onkyo had sorted out the HDMI issues?

I wonder how this compares to the HK AVR 1700 that was sold at BB for $200? I got mine for $150 w/ the MasterCard deal but this looks compelling.

I'm new to the surround sound family, just pulled the trigger on an Onkyo 7.1 system. Why do the subs have to be the same? By same do you mean complete specs or housing so that the delivery is the...

Believe me - the Yamaha is FAR superior to the Onkyo. Don't have buyers remorse. While you're listening to your reliable receiver, everyone that bought this will be in Onkyo customer service hell...

So, dumb question from someone with four Onkyo receivers in use currently... what do you use the network functionality for on an A/V receiver? Config setup? Streaming audio?
