yes they can. and i dont think they look funny. i wear the solid black ones as eyeglasses. i wear the 55mm though as the 52 is too small for my face.

The both offer 100% UVA protection so its a matter of preference. Polarized lenses make for reading LCD/LED screens a pain IMO...
