Hm, the widescreen is odd. Unfortunately it has no SSD so throw an extra $150 on that with a Windows 8 upgrade and it begins to get a little pricey. I like that the memory is expandable though.

Agreed. I have the XPS 12 and the touchpad is just plain HORRIBLE and it also does not have a SD card slot. Otherwise than that they are wonderful machines.

DisplayPort handles higher resolution monitors, as well as a greater number of monitors than HDMI due to higher bandwidth.
DisplayPort is better, do some reading, then buy the cheap adapters.
