Dearest Hard Drive experts..I need to replace an aging 1.5tb drive. I would like to get 2 of these and set them up in a raid configuration. I plan to upgrade my PC later this year. When I do my...

This is incorrect, a 3.5" drive is not a notebook internal drive, that is 2.5". The drive at MC is retail box version of same drive as thread topic, newegg also sells it but the price is higher than...

Hmmm, care to explain why this drive has half the access time as the supposed Retail model, MC advertises that one as OEM so it is not a boxed retail drive And the folks at Toshiba may know...

They must not as there are not currently any 2TB 7200 RPM notebook drives in existence, mistakes on manufacturer product pages is common. This drive does not have half the access time either, you...

Think you're mistaken no mention of retail on Newegg and 14ms seek would be abysmal for modern desktop HDDs. Not to mention the specs on the data sheet just don't mesh for something as basic as bare...

It depends on how you RAID, but the answer is yes. Is your OS going on a differnet drive? Such as an SSD? I'd suggest doing the RAID setup after you do the new build. I'm a big fan of hardware...

Generally most modern motherboards can support RAID in bios, it's just a matter of first time setup. If you're doing something more complex you probably already have this knowledge - so suffice to...

I think you're right. I'll wait to raid until then. Currently my OS is on a 500gb drive. On another note. What is the difference between this Toshiba drive at newegg and this one at micro center...

With Promo Code EMCYTZT2883 link
Post #57327924 added 02-02-2013 9:07 PM by sr71 in Archived Deals
You may be mistaking Toshiba for Hitachi? Hitachi sold off to WD and Toshiba also has rebadged Hitachi drives under license IIRC.

Looks like it's dead. "The promo code EMCYTZT2883 has expired and is no longer valid."

Depends who you talk to, these are known to be Hitachi based drives - the 1TB version is a rebadged 7K1000.D which is known to be a very fast 1 platter drive, often on sale at Tiger.

Agreed, I've been on the market for a new internal harddrive for about a week now and have seen a bunch of green drives. Jumped on this because I got tired of waiting. Thanks OP.
