well, imo, if a phone must need an extended battery... it wouldn't be a well engineered phone,
batt consumption, reception, camera and photo quality, that type of stuff, even stock ROM should be...

The other posts, at least the ones I saw, where for buying through the Virgin Mobile site, which charges tax.

You have two questions there.
No, it is a CDMA phone, it will not work with a SIM card.
Yes, it can be unlocked for use with other carriers, provided they are CDMA, like Page Plus, Verizon,...
