Dell isn't exactly trash. I know there lower line stuff probably isn't that great, but I've always liked my Latitude notebooks... I've got a E6410 and don't have any complaints.

I love my Dells too. HP's don't look too bad but they tend to overheat. Gateway is garbage. Samsungs are nice, but you can't build to order. Asus is nice too but build quality is iffy.
