When is SSD price going to be back to normal?
Post #57434572 added 02-07-2013 12:42 PM by CheapBastardX10 in Archived Deals
That's why I'm asking. I had an 830 before and it wasn't until a couple of months and almost a TB in before it dropped to 99%. I have performed all the optimization that can and should be done on...

It is possible as the 840 Pro is quite new and HD Sentinel has been around for awhile. It might not have an update for this SSD yet.

I would've rather gotten the OCZ Max IOPS 240GB ($140AR) drive over this. ...

I think OCZ Vector is comparable to the Samsung 840 Pro.

Only way to test it is write more to it

FWIW, this corsair (like the ocz vector and the samsung 830, 840, and 840 pro) have a 7mm height rather than 9.5mm -- this is critical for those of us with laptops that require this newer slim form...
I had an 830 128GB. Writing 1TB over a couple of months is not that hard. Doing benchmarks add a lot to the writing, so be warned for those who like to do that. I did it because I was testing out...

I think that the 99% is normal then. 1 TB is kind of a lot. That means you filled your hard drive, erased everything and filled it up again 8 times. 1% usage sounds about right. 100TB of writing...

This is erroneous information. The drive specs clearly state that the 240GB is the unformatted size. The formatted size is ~223GB. The truth is that it doesn't make any difference though because...

Although your math is correct, this is not the reason for the different sizes. It has to do with over provisioning. Both drives have the same amount of raw, physical RAM, but the 240GB drive has...

You gonna want to install programs and games on your ssd also. Depends on what u do but I'll go with the larger size to not have remorse later down the road

Tired of waiting for 840 pro 256 to go back on sale. In for 1.

Is that limited to the 480GB version? We don't know because they didn't test the 240GB size. For some controllers the higher capacity models will have some limitations because their mapping tables...

Doesn't sound hoore-ish, it sounds like you have a very dedicated and exclusive relationship with Corsair. However, I hate to break it to you, but I think Corsair is servicing other customers. ...

Yes, it is true of all drives. But in the Anandtech review I linked earlier it shows that at 192GB (same capacity filled for both Neutron GTX and 840 pro) the Neutron GTX does much better. Though at...

No, they are both 240GB. the 256GB will format to 240GB, some manufacturers just list the real capacity, others don't. Like 76GB raptors...same size as 80GB hard drives, raptors are just listed at...

I think this drive compares to the 840 Pro instead, which was cheapest at $200 on sale a couple weeks ago.

Little to no product reviews is a deal-breaker for me :/

I guess so. My OCZ, Intel, Samsung and Kingston haven't got one crapped out yet. I follow the How-to-Geek guide. It's missing the browser caching part from the guide you posted.

Actually my point was correct, let me clarify: The common practice (marketing) is to use 1000 bytes per KB for easy division...so 256,000,000 / 1000 = 256GB. The truth is there is 1024 bytes...

This is a close call and all depends on your usage patterns. If you spend most of your time plugged in the higher power consumption is basically meaningless. The other two are mostly theoretical...

99% in a couple of days is NOT normal. Check that indexing is off. That's the first thing that will kill a ssd. I've been running my Intel for 8 months and it's still 100% life.
