I am not sure why you think this could not run netflix. It is barebones, but should handle Windows great. Win7 and you could run netflix from a browser (wouldn't handle HD since silverlight is dumb)....

XBMC does netflix through plugins. I believe Hulu has a plugin as well. They aren't the fanciest, but they work. ISO's and HD movie playback will work fine in XBMC. That's what it's made for....

What you are asking makes no sense. It's like saying you tried Windows, 4 months ago and it buffered in the evening. What buffered? It certainly won't be local playback (i.e. from an attached HD)....
