I stand corrected - I looked at his signature and saw that it was a Dell IPS 27", so I assumed it was high-resolution...turns out, it IS only 1080p. Yeah I am guessing you might be OK with a 680 as...

you get bad bang/buck at $300 level. Go with $160 card, and buy it when you need it, not sooner. The longer you wait, the more fps/$ you'll get. Buy spending 1/2 the $ on a vcard, you can upgrade...

Edit: I was just doing some research and I think I might go with the Sapphire Dual X HD 7950 boost rev 3 instead. Vapor-X seems to have dubious issues surrounding voltage locks and VRM...

Option 1 is the better option of the three, imo. Msi's twin frozr cooler is quite overrated from my experience, and the vapor x I have no experience with. Newegg has the 7950 dual-x (boost) variants...

I might buy a single 7950 instead and overclock it on air, no CF, and reach 7970 performance levels. Granted, it won't play Crysis 3 max settings... Currently, which is the better card out of...

Just to be short, 7970 > 680 > 7950 > 670. The 7970 is the faster card, plus crysis 3 is an amd favored game.

No card for $350 is going to run Crysis 3 on Ultra settings on a 27" monitor.

7950 seems ideal here. They're overclock monster for the most part (after voltage adjustments), and are usually 3-5% slower than a 7970 at the same clock speeds. Dual-X and Vapor-X differences I...

i'd say max setting means 60 FPS basically 99% of the time which you won't get with any single GPU solution even at 1080p.

I have a GTX 690 and even it would drop a few fps during the multiplayer beta. I'm assuming that it was mainly due to driver issues though. :P

Depends on the res. If it's a 1080p monitor, it should handle it fine. Depends on what he finds playable (30fps vs 60ish). Had to turn off any of the anti-aliasing options for it to run smooth,...

The new Sapphire 7950 version 3L which fits in my case lacks VRM temp sensors. What do you think about that in terms of air OC? Should that be an issue for me?

Now that the game has been officially released, to play the game on HIGH settings, as opposed to VERY HIGH settings, is the 670 better than the 7970, since the Crysis 3 website says a 680 or 7970 is...
