I think most Stylii (is that a word?) just simulate the touch of a finger. This appears to work completely different. For a nexus stylus, you probably just want to find some cheap options like this.

i think that your device needs "N-trig DuoSense hardware" for it to be able to sense the stylus. it's probably pretty easy to look at your specs to see if it's got it.
