Not in my state. But maybe it varies. Do you get charged on gift card purchases where you are? It's my understanding that they are not taxable. I also get gas rewards on gift card purchases......

There is a reseller on ebay with very slight discounts on $10 cards but I am not comfortable giving them the phone number for the refill, wish it was via pin.

I just got back from a Pathmark in Brooklyn, NY and was not charged tax. 6% off is what we were getting on callingmart so this isn't that bad. Just makes me walk to pathmark and back once and month...

Everyone is probably aware of this already, but since it was not mentioned yet, if you have a Target card you can get them there for 5% off, or Amex Blue Preferred will get you 6% off at a grocery...
