You will get the same speeds iof you overclock the i5 3570K then the 3770K. Microcenter does have the best price on CPU's right now.

Really? I would think the power gain on the i7s would be worth the extra cash. I'm kind of out of touch with this generation - back when I bought my Q9550 I was an expert on the topic lol.

just add the mentioned CPU's to your cart, add a compatible motherboard, and check the price in your cart - it's also in their in-store fliers, you can look through them online (page 33)

Depends on the application.
I do extensive video encoding/transcoding, and all of the programs I use are able to take advantage of the extra (pseudo)cores.
