Unless you are an audiophile, the difference in sound between a receiver with or without the XT will likely not be discernible.

What is very nice about the 1712 is that it has both MultiEQ XT AND 7.1. The 1713 dropped down to 5.1, so to get both features without paying much more for the 211X, the 1712 (or maybe older years?)...

Right, the 1713 is the only current model under the 2113 that has MultEQ XT. Similarly, the 1712 is the only model under the 2112 with MultEQ XT from last year's models.
