The 320HS is a step back as well in terms of IQ. It uses the new sensor. The old sensor has better IQ than the new one.

Yup, different requirements, different experiences. That's why (aside from ignorance) many cameras still sell. It's a shame the LX7 doesn't fit or even the Olypmus XZ-1 in the $200 range.

Well... there's the DP1m/DP2m. They cost more and they are PITA cameras to use. They do have better IQ though being APS-C sensored and Foveon. Not as good all arounders but for what they are good...
