Agreed, the Play:5 is far superior to the 3's. For the typical difference in price ($100) it is a bit of a no-brainer if you don't care about form factor. Without a Sub the Play:3s sound flat. ...

I have read in several places that a pair of Play 3's sound better than a single Play 5. If the Play 3 sounds that poor, I can always use it in the garage or backyard.

I have my Play:5's paired for stereo sound. I never turn my Pioneer Elite receiver on anymore. The play:5's sound so much better.

Love it, definitely does not seem underpowered. The speakers are fairly efficient, from what little I understand, so I think they're a good match for the Amp.
