I have been thinking about this... having bought both the 250GB and 500GB versions of this drive... isn't it better to buy two of the 250GB drives and run them in Raid 0? The performance is nearly...
negative, none of the retina models use a conventional 2.5" SATA.

Man... I can't spend something for my laptop that costs near the same price of my laptop...

It should work fine... It'll be bottlenecked to the sata II transfer speed though. Regardless, you'll see a noticeable bump in performance.

The current generation of SSDs is also faster in writes most of the time, though this varies with the drive. Mainstream drives like this one are faster, but not the double (or more) write-speed of...

For the same price, yes. There's an increased risk (two failure points instead of one) and more effort to set it up, but it's a negligible risk and worth it for anyone who is seriously...

The 840 Series has estimated the 120GB lasting 3.5 years, the 250GB lasting 7 years. Is it safe to extrapolate and assume the 500GB version would last about 14 years?
Those are just estimates, it could be more of less really. I mean the Kingston I have is only rated at 1,000,000 but it varies too with how much data you transfer on and off as well.
