I paid $95 for my laptop and can do all the things you mention, although the resolution is only 1280 x 800. I'd go used and I'd go for a Thinkpad on Ebay. They are practically giving them away....

I am looking for at least 1600x900 resolution and must have a backlit keyboard. Only 13-14 inch screen(decent portability) Plan on using the laptop for; -Lots of excel, powerpoints, etc...
