That's what ive heard too. The gel probably keeps it moisturized but you could just as easily use a thin layer of vaseline or lotion.

Wow I really got a great deal nearly 2 years ago! I bought several of the cream with SPF30 at 99 Cents Only. The expiration is 8/2012 but they seems great even to this day. I'm now kicking myself...

Be careful. I've ordered from some non amazon fulfilled seller for this item and the tube wasn't exactly full. Not sure if the factory made it that way or if some of it was siphoned off.

This stuff is snake oil - it does not work. The only way to improve the appearance of scars is plastic surgery or massage if the scar is fairly recent. Rubbing this ointment into the scar massages...
