I checked online and have one rejected for $70 and one accepted for $70. Does this mean I'm in the clear? This is so confusing.

Typo error, huh? Only one other person has reported a similar siutuation so far, although in his case, IIRC, both rebates were showing invalid on his account online.

One would think not. It would get invalidated like others who sent in 2 rebates in separate envelopes but bought both on the same receipt.

Don't think the T&Cs have changed, but the earlier terms were 1 rebate per SKU for a total of 2 rebates.

While technically I agree, but I had $45 in rewards to cash out, so the $50 crap AV SW and the 10% coupon would have been perfect timing!

Try calling Staples CS and have them check local stock for SKUs 101923 and/or 101924. They could have checked stock at other stores for you when you were in first Staples store also.
