They determine whether or not to raise your limit by looking at your income.
You don't even have to make charges on your card every month. You just have to use the card often enough to keep it...

i find it hard to believe if you are picking up 5-6 cards every 6 months and have a 780 score. when you apply for a card, they do a hard hit on your credit history and it knocks you down 3 points.

Get a capital one card, because they will approve you, they are geared towards students and people with no credit history.
